DO use a car wash-specific cleaning product.
Put that bottle of Lysol down! When it comes to washing your car, you want to ensure that you’re using cleaning products that are specifically designed for that purpose. Otherwise, by using household cleaners, you may do more harm than good.
DO wash off any dirt, debris, or insect residue right when it happens.
When you leave a layer of dirt or bugs on your car, not only will this be harder to clean off — it’ll also eat away at your wax. Try to wash off any debris as soon as it begins to accumulate. You’ll thank us later!
DON’T let your car dry on its own.
After you wash your car, always be sure to use a non-abrasive towel, a chamois, or another soft material to sponge it dry. Don’t just let your car air-dry! Otherwise, you’ll be dealing with unseemly watermarks — what’s the point of washing in the first place, in this case?
DON’T wash your car after you’ve just parked it.
Why? Because your vehicle’s body will be hot, and not only will this make the task of washing more difficult, it will also increase the chances that spots or watermarks will form.
