Does a Main Dealer Have To Service My Car?

You are under no obligation to receive vehicle maintenance or repairs from a main dealership. As a consumer and car owner, you have the freedom to choose whichever service station you feel comfortable visiting for your car or truck. However, the manufacturer’s warranty has very specific terms that you must follow to ensure the warranty holds up. You must have your vehicle serviced according to the recommended schedule set by the manufacturer and use manufacturer-approved parts for the car.

When having work performed outside of the dealership network, be sure to keep all paperwork and records to demonstrate to the manufacturer that a technician performed service according to their requirements and expectations.
