Who is responsible for paying the repair shop for my repair bill – the insurance company or me?

Before any repairs commence on your vehicle, you are obligated to notify your insurance company. File a claim with your insurance provider to make sure they can cover the cost of repairs, as most insurances providers will handle the payment. Your provider will most likely send a claims adjuster to your home to inspect the vehicle. The adjuster will then determine the amount the insurance company will pay for repairs. Of course, you may have to pay a small portion, which is common with any insurance. Before visiting a repair shop, make sure your insurance company will work with that specific business as well. Some insurance providers refuse to work with certain repair services.
